Geopark education is conducted in all schools around the Oki Islands. In particular, these efforts have led to many joint educational activities between educational facilities and the Geopark Promotion Committee. However, this is the first specialised geopark course to become a permanent part of the formal curriculum of an educational facilitity.
The hour-long class will be held twice a week and address several topics surrounding the Oki Islands Global Geopark. Many classes will be taught by specialist guest lecturers. As part of their assessment, students will submit a proposal for the future of the region based on what they have learnt throughout the course. This year's class has 24 students.
