The second visit and exchange programme between Chinese and Japanese Geoparks Network
The second visit and exchange programme between Chinese and Japanese Geoparks Network took place from the 12th to 17th of September! This programme was organized as a follow up to the exchange programme that happened earlier this year in Japan.
13 representatives from the Japanese Geoparks Network, including two from the Oki Islands UNESCO Global Geopark, participated in the exchange, which included a visit to the China University of Geosciences in Beijing, Arxan UNESCO Global Geopark (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) and Fangshan UNESCO Global Geopark (southwestern Beijing and Hebei Province).

During the exchange the participants discussed the direction of future exchange between the two networks and shared about the challenges faced in each geopark. Participants also exchanged opinions on various topics during on-site investigations of numerous facilities and geosites. The topics discussed included local involvement in the geopark, education, science popularization and geosite conservation.
