Follow-up on the FY2024 “Subsidy for Oki Islands UGGp Academic Research”
In support of academic research currently being conducted in the Oki Islands
Seven research topics were conducted over one year!
At Oki Islands UNESCO Global Geopark, our “Subsidy for Oki Islands UGGp Academic Research” program supports a variety of research activities related to the area’s natural and cultural landscapes. This initiative aims to deepen understanding of the value inherent in the Oki Islands and amass a body of academic materials through research into the broad fields of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
Seven research topics were chosen from around the world for this fiscal year, with research and surveys conducted over the year and culminating in the “Academic Research Conference” on March 22, where each topic’s findings were presented.

※Due to various circumstances such as the weather, this survey was unable to proceed during this fiscal year and thus cancelled.
Academic Research Conference
The Academic Research Conference was held online on March 22. A space for people to come and watch in-person was created on-site in the Dōzen Islands and Dōgo Island, allowing 49 people online and 17 people in-person to participate.
