Oki Mura-matsuri Furyū Festival

Held on October 19 of odd-numbered years, at the grounds of former Nakamura Elementary School (Nakamura area, Okinoshima Town)
This festival is an Intangible Folk Cultural Property designated by Shimane Prefecture. Dedicated statues of the sun deity (yatagarasu crow) and the moon deity (white rabbit) are raised into the air on a pole about 4 m long, and they are paraded from their shrine to the festival site, where a ritual of the harmony of yin-yang and sun-moon is performed. Other rituals, such as omyō-dō, ceremonial sumo, ura-te ceremony, horse racing, yabusame horseback archery, and mikomai (shrine maiden dances) are also performed.
