Takeshima-shishiudo Plant Group, Toyoda

Takeshima-shishiudo (Dystaenia takesimana) is a perennial herb in the Apiaceae family. In the past it was believed to be an endemic species only found on Korea's Ulleungdo Island, but in the 1970s it was discovered on Oki's Nakanoshima Island (Ama Town). The plant produces multiple small, white-petaled flowers from June through July. Nearby, the southern hamabiwa laurel (Litsea japonica) can also be seen; within the Oki Islands, this plant only grows on the Dōzen Islands.
