Geohistory - Rocks from Volcanic Islands Period

Geosites / Okinoshima Town

Here you can see the path through which magma traveled during volcanic activity around 5.5 million years ago. This location was once the inside of a volcano; the magma that remained inside this path cooled and hardened here. The summits of the mountains to the north and south were formed by the lava that flowed through here.
