Oki-maimai Snail

This endemic land snail is found only in the Oki Islands. It is said to be a small, dwarf species of the similar San'in-maimai snail (Euhadra dixoni). It prefers relatively bright forests and can be found on the trunks and leaves of trees. Its shell is around 18.8–20 mm in height and 18.5–24.5 mm in diameter, with 5–6 layers. Many specimens from the Dōzen Islands have a black banded pattern on their shells, while on Dōgo Island they are typically a yellowish cream color and unbanded.
