Oki Nishiki-maimai Snail

This endemic land snail is found only on Dōgo Island, in damp places such as in the mountains on tree trunks, or around shrines. Its shell is around 3 cm in height and 4 cm in diameter, and many specimens have 6-layered shells. The shell is blackish-brown, with a light yellow pattern. A thick, black line can be seen running vertically along the back of the soft part of the body.
Due to changes in the natural environment, the population has been declining in recent years, so measures need to be taken to protect its habitat.
